As a contributing writer for Kaka’ako Vert since 2019, my stories have helped connect the magazine’s readers to the people, places, businesses and happenings of the Kaka’ako neighborhood and surrounding areas on Oahu.

In Towering Achievement I covered how Hawaii Pacific University—Hawaii’s largest private university—made a risky move (literally and figuratively) when relocating and expanding its institutional operations (classrooms, dorms, and all) to different areas in Honolulu, Kaka’ako included. This story covers why—according to HPU’s executives—the relocation was necessary, how things got a bit dicey for the university during the pandemic, and the enrollment resurgence that’s taken place because of a forward-thinking approach to the new college experience.
